Whether it be the debut of the sporty Polaris Perpetual Calendar at Watches & Wonders Geneva, the beautiful Atmos Régulater Cherry Blossom clock, or the announcement of its return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in next month’s new Doctor Strange film, Jaeger-LeCoultre has been on a tear as of late. And the watchmaker’s watchmaker is keeping the hot streak going by unveiling a new throwback to its classic alarm watch.

Combining both vintage ethos and contemporary design, JLC has introduced the Master Control Memovox Timer, a watch that harkens back to the brand’s first Memovox alarm watches from the 1950s with its pink gold case, yet the sunray-brushed black and gray dial ushers the classic silhouette into a modern era. Like the original, the updated Memovox features an inner rotating ring on the dial that serves as the timer complication, with an intriguing design that allows the wearer to set an alarm in one of two ways: either by establishing the desired time at which the alarm should go off, like an alarm clock, or by setting an actual duration of time instead, like a timer.

The tip of the alarm hand, as well as the alarm time indicator, display a hint of red for a subtle, yet crucial detail that adds to the overall sophistication and aesthetic of the watch design. The watch’s JLC Caliber 956 automatic movement is housed in a 40mm case which is circumferenced by a sloping bezel and punctuated with curved lugs. The gilt hands and indices are also made to match the pink gold hue of the case, with the long triangular hour markers’ design being lifted from JLC’s mid-century Memovox watches.

If you’ve been looking to give the alarm function on your phone a rest, then we highly recommend the JLC Master Control Memovox Timer as a more than suitable replacement. The watch is available now on Jaeger-LeCoultre’s website for $33,600.
